redmine is slow

I got redmine all set up, but it's really slow - so slow I've had to take it down out fear the system would become unstable.

Gonna need to upgrade the server.

I've used a Trac installation before (which was replaced with a Redmine install, whatever that tells us). It's written in Python, so I don't know if it would be much faster.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trac. The site is apparently down, which is... comforting, but it's in Lenny.

  2. Well in my comment which appears to be lost to the ethers of the internet I mentioned the possibility of using an open source forum. A few options are http://webtecker.com/2008/05/02/8-popular-open-source-forums/

The rest of my comment was about how this is a long term project, so take your time setting it up, and the website can be developed slowly after you have the basic needs of the community met. One of which I mentioned was visitors or the community being able to publicly ask questions, otherwise Lepht will still be getting flooded with emails.

  3. Hi!
Unfortunately Trac is limited to managing one project - I mean with access permissions for users. I know the Glasgow Haskell Compiler team use Trac - and I wouldn't say what they make is 'just one project'.

Anyway, the server is being upgraded at 15:00 GMT. Should be good after that.

TBH the server was just really slow - I'm virtual hosting another site alongside, for someone else, also. It's just all too much for the poor creature.
